Dozens Rushed To ER After Eating At Brownsville Restaurant
Approximately 30 people were rushed to the emergency room after eating at the El Rey Del Taco taqueria restaurant on 1293 E Alton Gloor Blvd in Brownsville.
Cameron County Public Health officials have shut down El Rey Del Taco and are working with local hospitals who treated victims to help determine what caused the outbreak of food poisoning Wednesday night.
Those who were hospitalized suffered from nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea among other symptoms. Some victims took to Facebook, stating they “ended up in the ER” and that their symptoms were so bad that they “felt like (they) were dying.”
Cameron County Health Administrator Esmerelda Guajardo said that her administration’s role is to identify what caused the outbreak and to create a plan of action for treatment and containment.
