Infant Ibuprofen Recall Expanded To Wal-Mart, CVS, Family Dollar
Tris Pharma, Inc. is expanding their November 2018 recall to include infant oral suspension drops from Wal-Mart, CVS, and Family Dollar as batches shipped to be sold in these stores had higher levels of Ibuprofen concentration.
Some units of the medication from the recalled batch were found to contain 10% over the stated amount of ibuprofen.

According to the recall, “There is a remote probability that infants, who may be more susceptible to a higher potency level of drug, may be more vulnerable to permanent NSAID-associated renal injury,” and that “toxicity is generally accepted to be a concern in infants at doses in excess of 700% of the recommended dose.” This means that permanent kidney damage is possible if an infant is given 7 times over the recommended dosage.
