Early Models of Likely “Hurricane Beta” Show Potential Landfall In Rio Grande Valley

POTENTIAL HURRICANE BETA COULD HIT RIO GRANDE VALLEY

The latest models of Tropical Depression 22 indicate that landfall could potentially occur along the Texas coast anywhere between the Rio Grande Valley and Coastal East Texas.

KRGV Meteorologist Matt Holiner posted KRGV Weather’s latest models on Facebook earlier today.

Meteorologists agree that Tropical Depression 22 is likely to form into a tropical storm later today, and eventually, into a Catagory 1 hurricane prior to making landfall. Models from The Weather Channel indicate that landfall could potentially occur anytime between Monday or Wednesday, depending on the path that storm eventually takes.

If TD-22 does grow into a hurricane, the storm will be named Hurricane Beta, which would mark only the 2nd time in recorded history that the Greek alphabet was used to name storms in an Atlantic Hurricane season (2005).

Is Hurricane Beta Going To Hit The Rio Grande Valley?

At the moment, the Rio Grande Valley is within the cone of concern for landfall for Hurricane Beta. This means that the Rio Grande Valley is a potential spot for landfall for Hurricane Beta. Models will continue to develop a clearer path as the storm progresses through the Gulf of Mexico. Continue checking in with local and national weather reports.

When Will Hurricane Beta Hit The Rio Grande Valley?

Again, as previously stated, at the moment the models show that the Rio Grande Valley is within the cone of concern for landfall. However, if Hurricane Beta

does make landfall in the Rio Grande Valley, the models currently indicate that it would likely occur Monday, September 21. Continue checking in with local and national weather reports.

What Should I Do If My Home or Business Still Has Damage From Hurricane Hanna?

If you’re home or business still has damage from Hurricane Hanna, there are a few steps you need to take IMMEDIATELY:

  1. FILE YOUR CLAIM – If you still haven’t filed your Hurricane Hanna insurance claim, you need to get on the phone ASAP and file a claim right now. Any future storms that damage your home can have a negative impact on your ability to get your home fixed if you don’t file a claim in a timely manner. This needs to be your top priority if you need your home or business damages fixed.
  2. MITIGATE YOUR DAMAGES – If you have a leaky roof, you need to put up a tarp RIGHT NOW. The Rio Grande Valley has seen rain almost every day and will likely see more rain as this potential hurricane draws closer into the weekend. Failure to mitigate your damages could kill your homeowners insurance claim.
  3. CALL A HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE LAWYER – Calling an experienced homeowners insurance claim lawyer could mean the difference between getting your claim paid and getting absolutely nothing from your insurance carrier. Lawyers who specialize in homeowners insurance claims statistically are able to recover 3x more than a claimant who does not have a lawyer fighting for their claim.
