State of Disaster Declared For Del Rio After Hailstorm
Del Rio, Texas: Val Verde County Judge Efrain Valdez signed an order declaring a “local state of disaster for Val Verde County” on Friday following a devastating hail storm that swept through the area late Monday night.
This declaration, once signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, would allow cities like Del Rio, the seat of Val Verde County, to begin receiving state and federal relief for the hundreds of families whose homes were damaged by this devastating hail storm.
Early assessments made by the American Red Cross estimate that 600 homes were damaged or affected by the hail storm, and a staggering 90% of homes were recorded with minor damage.
