Tyson Recalls Chicken Over Possible Rubber Contamination

Tyson Foods Inc. has issued a recall of approximately 36,420 pounds of chicken nuggets that may have been contaminated by rubber materials. The USDA has labeled this a CLASS I Recall, the highest level of recall for being a “health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

At the moment, there is only one specific Tyson-brand product that is being recalled:

  • 5-lb. plastic packages of “Tyson WHITE MEAT PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS” with a “BEST IF USED BY” date of “NOV 26 2019,” case code “3308SDL03” and time stamps 23:00 through 01:59 (inclusive).

At the time of the recall announcement, there have been no reported cases of illness or “adverse reactions due to the consumptions of these products.”

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) believes that many consumers may have purchased these products and are currently stored in personal freezers. FSIS is urging consumers to throw these products away or return them to the store where they were purchased.

Tyson Foods Inc. has made their company available for any consumers who may have questions regarding the recall by calling Tyson Consumer Relations at  1-888-747-7611.

What Should I Do If I’ve Eaten Recalled Food?

  1. Seek Medical Attention – Symptoms of consuming foreign agents such as rubber could include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. However, you should speak to a medical professional immediately regardless if you show any of the above symptoms.
  2. Speak To A Food Poisoning Lawyer – As a consumer, you have rights under Texas law to file a lawsuit against companies who negligently sell you dangerous or spoiled food. Consuming food that has been recalled could lead to serious medical conditions, even death. It’s important to involve an experienced food poisoning lawyer to ensure that you are compensated for your medical bills, your time off work, and for any physical and mental inconvenience this may have caused you.
